Nick Brocklehurst is a freelance composer, arranger and trombonist based in Leeds, UK.
An avid lover of many genres, Nick composes in various styles. Since 2015, he has been Composer in Residence for Championship section brass band, Elland Silver Band.

ODYSSEY: SOLO FOR EUPHONIUM & BRASS BAND
'Odyssey: Solo for Euphonium & Brass Band' (2020)
'Odyssey' was commissioned by Mark Cobham and written for his son, Thomas Cobham to mark his 21st birthday. The piece combines Thomas's love of Doctor Who and the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Nick's influences from sci-fi film scores by John Williams and Jerry Goldsmith.
Beginning with celestial, floating harmonies and a bold opening theme from the Solo Euphonium, the piece 'blasts off' into a brisk, triumphant romp in a concert march style. With features across the full band and florid solo passages, 'Odyssey' makes for an entertaining musical journey to infinity and beyond!

The COVID-19 pandemic's been such a surreal and turbulent period - brutal lows, odd highs, moments of almost hilarious absurdity...and even more lows. I've tried to capture this in this collection of short songs for piano. Hope you enjoy, and keep safe!
