'Odyssey: Solo for Euphonium and Brass Band' (2020)
 
'Odyssey' was commissioned by Mark Cobham and written for his son, Thomas Cobham to mark his 21st birthday. The work combines Thomas's love of Doctor Who and the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the composer's influences from sci-fi film scores by John Williams and Jerry Goldsmith.
Beginning with celestial, floating harmonies and a bold opening theme from the Solo Euphonium, the piece 'blasts off' into a brisk, triumphant romp in a concert march style. With features across the full band and florid solo passages, 'Odyssey' makes for an entertaining musical journey to infinity and beyond!
